     According to the Descendants of John Bishop, he came with his parents to America in 1639. The date and place of his birth is not known. John was rated a freeman in 1650. He was raised in the east part of town, now called Madison.
     Other internet records show him born in Guilford in 1625.2

     Emily Sophronia Hopkins was born on 13 May 1834 at Prattsburgh, Steuben County, NY, USA. "John Hopkins of Cambridge, MA 1634 and some of his Descendants, pg 271" and "Loomis Genealogy, pg 288."1 She was the daughter of Asa Hopkins and Amanda R. Loomis. She married Beriah Dickinson Hotchkin at Barrington, Yates County, NY, USA, on 18 November 1855.1 Emily Sophronia Hopkins appeared on the census of 1900 at Penn Yan, Yates County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, Emma, age 65, b 5-1835 in NY; widow, no children, living alone.. She died on 18 January 1913 at Penn Yan, Yates County, NY, at age 78. She was buried at City Hill Cemetery, at Penn Yan, Yates County, NY, USA.

     Her obituary from a local Prattsburg newspaper is saved in the files of the Prattsburg Historical Society, but undated; the obituary says that she had been paralyzed for about ten years due to a stroke and that she moved from Prattsburg to Penn Yan about 35 years earlier. At the 1900 census of Mills Town, Penn Yan, Yates Co., NY, she is living alone. The census gives her birth as 5-1835, age 65.

The census lists the family as: Harry Hotchkin, 17 (1902), born NY, is a boarder with his father-in-laws family, garage mechanic.. He married Vivian May Keator at NY, USA, on 20 February 1923. Harry Gold Hotchkin died on 24 October 1979 at Riverview, Hillsborough County, FL, USA, at age 78.4,2,3 He was buried at Maplewood Cemetery, at Freehold, Monmouth County, NJ, USA.

     Harry Gold Hotchkin and his children are described in "Three Centuries of the Keator Family in America." This reference says that he was the son of Frank Hotchkin. The Compiler traced his descendants by finding his Social Security records in Florida and then checking there for telephone numbers.5

Walter B Hotchkin married Oletha Gayle Briggs on 5 June 1937 at Ripley, Chautauqua County, NY, USA.2 Walter B Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1940 at West Mead, Crawford County, PA, USA. The census lists the family as: Walter Hotchkin, age 36 born 1904 in PA, married, lived in Meadville in 1935, does not lived on farm, inspector in slide fastener factory; wife Gaye, age 43 born 1897 in PA, married.. He lived in 1949 at Meadville, Crawford County, PA, USA. Walter and Gaye are listed in the Polk's Directory for this year. He died in June 1979 at Blooming Valley, Crawford County, PA, USA, at age 75.3

     At the 1910 census he is living with Lewis J. Hotchkin and called a "brother's grandson". This might fit Robert or David as a father, but Robert died 10 months before Walter's birth if records are correct and David's wife Margaret lived after Davids death and had another marriage so why would brother Lewis have Walter.
