Timothy Hopkins, The John Hopkins Genealogy says that Beriah and Emily Sophronia Hopkins had no children of their own but adopted Emily's stepsister Alice Fidelia Hopkins and raised her in their home. The 1920 census of Penn Yan has Alice, age 56, living with Elizabeth Hayward, age 74, described as her sister. This may be another stepsister of Emily's. George Putnam Hotchkin

George Putnam Hotchkin was born on 2 September 1838 at Waterville, Oneida County, NY, USA.1 He was the son of Mark Caldwell (M. C.) Hotchkin and Catherine M. Springer. George Putnam Hotchkin was a Private, andserved in Batt'y C, 3rd NY Art'y, during the Civil War.2 He married Melissa Collins at Waterville, Oneida County, NY, circa 1864.2 He married Mariah Mann at Syracuse, Onondaga County, NY, USA, on 25 December 1867.2 George Putnam Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1870 at Sangerfield, Oneida County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, George, age 32, harness maker, b NY, wife Maria, age 22, b Eng., son Frank, age 1; and an unrelated female.. He resided at Waterville, Oneida County, NY, in 1900. He died on 12 July 1908 at Waterville, Oneida County, NY, at age 69.3,4,5,6,7 He was buried at Walnut Hills Cemetery, at Brookline, Norfolk County, MA, USA. Buried with his daughter Adelaide Mason..

I, 26th Infantry Regt, New York Volunteers as a Corporal. He was discharged at Utica, NY as a Sergeant on 28 May 1863 then he reenlisted on 28 March 1864 as a Private in Battery C, 3rd Light Artillery, New York Volunteers and was honorably discharged at Syracuse, NY on 14 July 1865. During his first enlistment he was wounded in the head and the left hip by buckshot, in a battle near Fredrickburg, VA on 13 December 1862. The files show him taken to a hospital at Falmouth. In one of George's Pension applications he says, "I cannot tell just where I incurred disease of heart and liver, but never suffered from them, to my knowledge, before 1863; but have been troubled with them since 1864 or 1865. They are not due to vicious habits and in my opinion are permanent." In another Pension Application, dated 5 May 1902, he said that he was a Heel Finisher in a shoe factory, that his height was 5 feet, 4 1/2 inches, eyes black and hair black-gray, his complexion was dark and he identified scars as a gun shot wound on his left side above the hip. A pension document dated 28 May 1901 identifies his three children and gives their dates of birth.
George P. Hotchkin was the Grantee of two properties in 1878, Oneida Co; Libr 379, pg 138, dated 20 May from Nettie Mueready and the second, Libr 379, pg 140 from Geo. H. Mueready by Guardian.
The 1869 Gazetteer and Business Directory of Oneida Co. lists George P. as a manufacturer and dealer of trunks and home blankets, located at the corner of Main and White streets.

Jedediah Parker was born on 28 September 1782 at Saybrook, Middlesex County, CT, USA.1 He was the son of Jonathan Parker and Mary Jones. He married Amanda Hodgkin at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA, on 10 September 1804.1,2 He married Elizabeth Starr at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, on 8 May 1836.3 Jedediah Parker appeared on the census of 1850 at Guilford, New Haven County, CT. The census lists the family as: Jedediah Parker, 67, farmer; Elizabeth, 62, next door lives Ruth Starr, 70 and Grace Starr, 65.. He died on 12 February 1853 at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, at age 70.1 He was buried at Nut Plains Cemetery, at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA.4

Benjamin was born at North Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA, on 23 May 1720.1,2 He was the son of Joseph Chittenden and Mehitabel Pierce. He married Elizabeth Hodgkin at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA, in 1745.3 He resided at North Guilford, New Haven County, CT, in 1750. Benjamin died in 1760 at North Guilford, New Haven County, CT.1,2 He was buried at Old North Cemetery, at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA.
Benjamin Chittenden and his parents are very well documented in the Chittenden Family Genealogy. He and Elizabeth Hodgkin lived in North Guilford after their marriage and when Benjamin died Elizabeth married Daniel Norton and survied his death in 1789. There are no records of her having a third marriage.

Edward Edmund Lewis was born on 6 July 1726 at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA. He was the son of Edward Lewis and Rabakah Lathrop. He married Jane Hodgkin at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, on 7 September 1757. Married by Rev James Sprout..3 Edward Edmund Lewis died on 13 July 1810 at Lenox, Madison County, NY, USA, at age 84. Edward Edmond Lewis was born in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut on July 6, 1726. His parents were Edward Lewis and Rebecca Lathrop/Lothrop Lewis. Edward married Jane Hodgkin on September 7, 1757 in Guilford, New Haven County, Connecticut. Five children were born to Edward and Jane. They were Rebecca, Hannah, Edward, Samuel and John. Edward Edmond Lewis died July 13th, 1810 in Lenox, Madison County, New York and was buried in the Lenox Rural Cemetery in Madison County, New York. Edward was preceded in death by two of his children, Hannah in 1762 and Samuel in 1771. Edward's wife Jane lived until 1823.

The Lewes-Lewis Family Genealogy, refers to him as Edward Lewes and says that in the early part of his life, he was a sailor and after being married he was the captain of a trading vessel which was taken by the French, and he lost everything that he had acquired. The family were members of the Church of Christ, North Bristol Society. Edward was also known as Edmund.
