Jeremiah Hotchkiss married Sophia Theresa Mills circa 1847 at CT, USA. He married Caroline Elizabeth Darrow at New York City, New York County, NY, USA, on 19 October 1853.³ Jeremiah Hotchkiss died on 30 June 1863 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY, USA, at age 46.      Caroline Elizabeth Darrow was buried at Spring Grove Cemetery, at Hartford, Hartford County, CT, USA. Caroline was born at Middletown, Middlesex County, CT, USA, on 7 January 1834.¹ She was the daughter of Charles B. Darrow and Julia Redfield Stocking. She married Jeremiah Hotchkiss at New York City, New York County, NY, USA, on 19 October 1853.² Caroline Elizabeth Darrow appeared on the census of 1870 at Governeur, St Lawrence County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Caroline Hotchkiss, 36, born CT; Julia R., 15, born CT; Laura S, 22, born NY, (likely that this is not accuract as Laura is listed second and born in NY; Carrie N., 12, born NY; Emma S. D., 10, born NY; Charles E., 8, born NY; Julia S. Darron, 68, born CT.. She died on 17 July 1929 at New York City, New York County, NY, USA, at age 95. Her obituary gives the location as her home on Morningside Dr. Georgia Hotchkiss Rector says July 17th. The Ambrose Hotchkiss bible calls her Eliza Hotchkiss widow of Jeremiah. Obituary in newspaper says July 17 so Compiler will use that date..^1,3

     Charles Erling Hotchkiss was born on 3 December 1861 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY, USA. Age 8 at the 1870 census. His birth day is given as 2 December when on the USS Volendam on 21 July 1923.² He was the son of Jeremiah Hotchkiss and Caroline Elizabeth Darrow. Charles Erling Hotchkiss was a Lawyer in June 1888 at New York City, New York County, NY, USA. He was graduated in 1888 from Columbia University, New York City, New York County, NY, USA. He married Edith Laura Parks at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA, on 28 December 1892.³ Charles Erling Hotchkiss appeared on the census of 1910 at Brooklyn, Kings County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Charles E. Hotchkins, 48, married once, 17 years, born NY, parents born CT; wife Edith L., 48, married once, 17 years, 1 child, 1 living; born MA, father born VT, mother born NY; dau Elizabeth N., 14, single, born NY.. Charles died on 17 January 1939 at New York City, New York County, NY, at age 77.⁴ He was buried at Mahaiwe Cemetery, at Great Barrington, Berkshire County, MA, USA.

     Charles was the grandson of Ambrose who changed his name from Hotchkin to Hotchkiss. His memoirs are published in NEHGR, including data on his ancestors. He was a graduate of Trinity College, 1882, and received an MA there in 1886 after which he was awarded an LLB from Columbia in 1888 and became a member of the New York Bar in June 1888. He began his practice in New York City with the firm of Davies, Auerbach, Cornell and Hardy and stayed with this firm until he retired 31 December 1936. His wife Edith and daughter Elizabeth survived him. In 1922, Charles wrote a letter to the Hotchkiss Family Association defining the descendants of Ambrose Hodgkin.^5,6

     Edith was born at Great Barrington, Berkshire County, MA, USA, on 10 November 1861. Twin to brother Silas..¹ She was the daughter of William Henry Parks and Sarah A. Sprague. She married Charles Erling Hotchkiss at New Haven, New Haven County, CT, USA, on 28 December 1892.² Edith Laura Parks died on 25 August 1932 at Great Barrington, Berkshire County, MA, at age 70. Information in an obituary without a Header identifying newspaper. It says that she died at her summer home in Great Barrington. Services held at the St James Church..¹ She was buried at Mahaiwe Cemetery, at Great Barrington, Berkshire County, MA, USA.

     Her obituary says that she died at her summer home in Great Barrington, MA and that she studied music in Germany and was prominent in music circles. She is survived by her husband, daughter and a brother.

     Lillian was born at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA, on 1 January 1906. Her daughter confirms a birth date of 1 Jan 1906..¹ She was the daughter of Charles Gregory Platt and Margaret Marguerite Stranske. She married Thomas Clement Hotchkin at Miami, Miami Dade County, FL, USA, on 7 February 1926.² Lillian died on 26 June 1953 at Novato, Marin County, CA, USA, at age 47.³ She was buried at Mt Olivet Catholic Cemetery, at San Rafael, Marin County, CA, USA.

     Her daughter, Dolores Lillian Settera, gives a birth date of 1 January 1906 instead of the 1904 date that the Compiler calculated from death information. Dolores also gave her mothers parents names.

     Lee Thomas Hotchkin Sr. was born on 24 November 1926 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA.¹ He was the son of Thomas Clement Hotchkin and Lillian Mary Platt. Lee Thomas Hotchkin Sr. was a Fc(EM)V6, andserved in US Navy, during the World War I I on the USS Case DD 370. Records show him in Pearl Harbor on December 12 1943.² He married Ada Ruth Barokat at Chico, Butte County, CA, USA, on 24 March 1949.³ He married Edna Louise Zuchelli at San Rafael, Marin County, CA, USA, on 24 October 1959.³ He resided at Fresno, Fresno County, CA, USA, in 1993. Lee Thomas Hotchkin Sr. died on 28 July 2012 at CA, USA, at age 85. He was buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery, at San Bruno, San Mateo County, CA, USA.

     Ada Ruth Barokat was born on 24 March 1928 at Detroit, Wayne County, MI, USA.¹ She was the daughter of August Jacob Barokat and Olga Elsie Patzkowski. She married Lee Thomas Hotchkin Sr. at Chico, Butte County, CA, USA, on 24 March 1949.² Ada Ruth Barokat died on 6 March 1959 at Marin County, CA, USA, at age 30.³ She was buried at Golden Gate National Cemetery, at San Bruno, San Mateo County, CA, USA. Mary Theresa Hotchkin died on 21 November 2011 at Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, CA, at age 82. She was buried at Santa Rosa Memorial Park, at Santa Rosa, Sonoma County, CA, USA.
