     Oliver Wendall Barokat was buried at Sunset Memorial Park, at South Charleston, Kanawha County, WV, USA. He was born on 13 January 1920 at Hillsboro, Marion County, KS, USA. Public records. He was the son of August Jacob Barokat and Olga Elsie Patzkowski. Oliver Wendall Barokat married Evelyn Emma Woodrum. Oliver Wendall Barokat died on 4 February 2011 at Charleston, Kanawha County, WV, USA, at age 91. Oliver Wendell "Ollie" Barokat, 91, of Kanawha City passed away Friday, February 4, 2011, at CAMC General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born January 13, 1920, in Hillsboro, Kan; son, of the late August and Olga Patzkowski Barokat. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Ada Ruth Hotchkin.

He had a strong faith and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and lived his life accordingly. Oliver served his country with the rank of sergeant during World War II in Iwo Jima, Saipan, Tinian and Marshall Islands, where he was awarded the Purple Heart in the 4th Division, 25th Regiment, of the United State Marine Corps. Oliver was the vice president of The Cleveland Plant and Flower Company for 52 Years.

Oliver is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Evelyn; two daughters, Mitzi Barker and husband Steve of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Donna Sheets and husband Henry of Columbus, Ohio; one son, David Bruce Barokat of Charleston; sister, Lillian Root of Dinuba, Calif; and two granddaughters, Tara Brooke Barker Vaught and husband Jason of Charleston, and Malinda Barker Fields of Jacksonville, Fla.

A celebration of Ollie's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2011, at the Mausoleum Chapel in Sunset Memorial Park, South Charleston.
