Rector at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, on 19 July 1947. James Robert Galligan died on 26 August 2010 at Houghton Lake, Roscommon County, MI, USA, at age 84. Information from his wife Ruth.. He was buried at Deepdale Memorial Park, at Delta Township, Eaton County, MI, USA.
Jim was always the favorite cousin of your Compiler as we were growing up together in Michigan and our wife’s and we often did things together after we were married. We have been separated by a lot of distance for many years but Cathy and I are trying to make up for that by frequent trips to Michigan. Jim and Ruth sang at our wedding and were married the week after Cathy and I were married. Jim was adopted by Marjorie and Howard and later by Galligan. Later in life he located his birth mother but never his father.
Jim's mother Marjorie was killed in a terrible home fire a few months after his marriage and Jim and his wife Ruth raised Jim's sister Aletha from the time of her mothers death. Attached as an Exhitib is Jim's account of the Battle of Leyte Gulf from his carrier.

He married Marjorie Cecile Hotchkin at Lansing, Ingham County, MI, USA, on 21 July 1923. Married by Dr Ralph Hobbs..2 Howard Earl Beardsley appeared on the census of 1930 at Lansing, Ingham County, MI. The census lists the family as: Howard Beardsley, roomer, 28, married at 21 years, born MI, parents born MI, carpenter in auto factory.. He and Marjorie Cecile Hotchkin were divorced on 2 January 1932 at Ingham County, MI, USA. Howard Earl Beardsley died on 29 May 1960 at age 59. He was buried at Deepdale Memorial Park, at Delta Township, Eaton County, MI, USA.
In a conversation with James Galligan, he told the Compiler that Howard was once a policeman in Detroit and Howard and Jim's mother lived in Detroit at one time. Jim said that Howard had a brother Hugh who was an orthopedic surgeon and after Howard left his mother he went to Montana for some time but is believed to have returned to Michigan before his death. Jim also said that his mother told him that Howard's mother had died in a home fire, much as Jim's mother died later.
The Compiler had a great deal of trouble searching for the parents and siblings of Howard under the Beardley name. I finally found them under the name Beardslee. I seems that only Howard used the Breadsley spelling. Sometimes Gemealogy is reall strange.
