     The 1900 census of IL finds her with her husband and 17 unrelated individuals. Her age is given as 49. At the 1900 census she is with her husband, her two children and her sister Dora Zollman, born Nov, 1861 in AL. The 1900 Census says Lillie was born in AL while 1910 census says IL. At the 1910 census, her sister is living with Lillian's children at another Chicago address and her last name is given as Nohlman. The birth records of Harry and Helen gives maiden name of Windes so Zollman must have been the sister's married name.

The registration card gave additional information on him: "Harry Hotchkin, born 2 Apr 1894 in Chicago, IL. Just graduated from MIchigan College of Mines in Houghton, MI. Member of ROTC and presently at Ft Sheriden, IL in engineering training camp.". He appeared on the census of 1920 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA. The census lists the family as: Hotchkin, H. T., age 35, born I, parents birth unk; Mrs H. T., age 31, born I, parents birth unk; living with Lester S. Noble..      At the 1910 census he is living away from his parents with his brother Merritt W., sister Helen M., and aunt Dora. Chicago Birth Records #6236 show his birth on 2 April 1894 To Lillie and Benjamin Hotchkin as her 2nd child. Birth records use M. as initial. Social Security records also gives his birth as 2 April 1894 and death in October 1974. Texas is given as the location that he first received a SS card and CA as location of his death benefits. His death certificate gives his parents names, his occupation as a Geologist, and says that he never married.
     The 1920 census; however, has a Mrs. H. .T. Hotchkin so this may be the wrong party.
Harry was Republican Party Executive in San Antonio, TX and ran for an office in 1940. He originally supported Taft in the 1940 primary elcection and switched at the last moment to Stassen.
     He was also very active in oil well drilling and production in Texas and wrote stories about this work.

     Helen Medora Hotchkin was born on 11 July 1897 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Benjamin Lincoln Hotchkin Dr. and Mary Lydia Windes. She married Alan Hay Means at Chicago, Cook County, IL, on 28 August 1920.      At the 1910 census of Chicago, she is living with brothers Harry and Merritt. Helen may have had a twin brother as the Chicago births 1871-1916 show a Harry M. (Cert #6236) with the same 7-11-1897 birth date. It is likely; however, that this is just a mistake in her name as no other sign of this brother has been found.
     A descendant of her family says that Helen was an amazing woman. She was a Founding Member of the Womans League in Utah and a Smith Metal recipient frm Smith College.

     At the 1900 census of Rick Twp., Cook Co., IL, she lived with her son Mark, daughter Mary A. and an Sc (?) Jim Kennedy, age 30, born Mar, 1870. Ellan said that she had eight children, six of whom were living at the 1900 Census date. Census report calls her Elleya. Death Certificates of her sons Oliver J. and Benjamin L. identify her as Ellan and give her maiden name as Quinn. Her Death Certificate says that she was born Aug, 1826 in Ireland and died 12 Feb, 1910 at 9:00 PM, age 83; she had lived in Chicago for 6 years and in IL for 58 years and in the USA for 63 years. The information was reported by her son Benjamen L. Hotchkin. She was buried in Mokena, IL according to the document.

     Mark Daniel Hotchkin was born on 15 November 1862 at Tinley Park, Cook County, IL, USA.¹ He was the son of William Hotchkin and Ellan Quinn. He married Mary Ellen Harrington at Chicago, Cook County, IL, USA, on 26 December 1900.² Mark Daniel Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1920 at Chicago, Cook County, IL. The census lists the family as: Mark Hotchkin, 56, IL, father born England, mother born Ireland, manager; wife Mary, 45, born Ireland, parents born Ireland; son William, 17, born IL; son Mark, 17, born IL, Alda May, 14 11/12, born IL; John, 13, born IL.. The birth record for Mark says that he was a twin and the 3rd child of Mary Harrington Hotchkin (we don't know who this first child is). The age of Mary was given as 28 and that of Mark Daniel as 38.

He was the son of Henry Hotchkin and Hannah Readman. He married Ellan Quinn circa 1851. William Hotchkin appeared on the census of 1860 at Rich Twp, Cook County, IL, USA. The census lists the family as: 1860 Census, Rich, Cook Co., IL, pg 919, William Hotchkin, 40, farmer, $1400, $300, b Eng; Wife Ellan, 33, b Eng; son Benjamin, 9, b IL; son Henry, 7, b IL; dau Mary A., 2, b IL; dau Ella, 1, b IL.. He is likely a brother of John Hotchkin of Jasper Co., IA. William was not with the family at the 1900 Census. John Adair Hotchkin wrote the complier with additional information. He says that there were additional sons Henry, born 1855; Allen, born 1859 and John, born 1868. Allen would conflict with Ella J. so he was not entered. Hulver is likely Oliver as dates agree.

     The Death Certificate for Oliver gives his full name as Oliver Joseph, the son of William and Ellan Hotchkin. It shows him living at 810 Buckingham Pl., Chicago for 6 years and a resident of Chicago for 10 years. The person furnishing the information was his sister Mary A. Hotchkin, who lived at the same address. The certificate said that he was single. His burial location was to be Mokena, IL but the cemetery was not indicated.

The census lists the family as: Mark Hotchkin, Head, 27, Single, IL, father born IL, mother IRE; Mary A., 22, wife of Head, single, born IL, father born Eng, mother Ire. Enumerator oviously made a mistake and listed these two as single after describing her as wife of head. Unfortunately this doesn't give us any idea of wedding date.. He enlsted on 9 November 1942 while living at Ft Benjamin Harrison, Marion County, IN, USA. His enlistment notes said: " Mark A. Hotchkin, born 1902, native of Illinois, no branch given, enlisted for duration, 4 years of college, Geodetic Computer, single, no dependents, height 66, weight 159.". He died on 29 September 1966 at Chicago, Cook County, IL, at age 64.
