     Helen Maria Strong was born on 30 May 1830 at Somers, Tolland County, CT, USA. She was the daughter of William Lighthouse Strong and Harriet Deming.

     Viola Evalena Denslow was born on 3 March 1874 at Woodstock, Lenawee County, MI, USA.^1,2,3 She was the daughter of Jerome Henry Denslow and Asenath Savage. Viola Evalena Denslow married Ira Martin Leiter on 22 June 1890 at Sherman, Isabella County, MI, USA. Viola Evalena Denslow died on 4 August 1915 at Sherman, Isabella County, MI, at age 41. Not with family at 1880 census..^2,3 She was buried at Forest Hill Cemetery, at Weidman, Isabella County, MI, USA.

     Jeremiah Denslow was born on 2 July 1798 at Genesee County, NY, USA. He married Desire Barbara Griffith in 1824 at Batavia, Genesee County, NY, USA. Jeremiah Denslow died on 16 February 1873 at Lenawee County, MI, USA, at age 74. Michigan Deaths 1867 to 1897 gives a date of 16 February 1873 in Woodstock..¹

     My Great Great Grandfather, Jeremiah Denslow, was born July 2, 1798, in Geneseee County, New York. He married Barbara Griffin, about 1824, in Batavia, New York. Some time about 1870 they moved to Mecosta County Michigan. Jeremiah died in 1873.
Jeremiah and Barbara had eight children: William Riley, Melissa, William Tracy, Edwin Beryl, Jerome Henry (my great grandfather) Clarissa Irene, and Marietta.

Jerome Henry, born about 1836, first married Sarah Savage. She died young, and he then married Asenth Savage, a sister of his first wife., Jerome and Asenth had eight children: Frederick: George: Willard Glenn and William Lee (twins): Myrtle: Grant: Henry: Frank Eugene and Viola>

Jerome served in he Navy during the Civil War in the U.S.S. North Carolina, the ST Lawrence, the R.R. Cuyler and the U.S.S. Constellation in Norfolk, Virginia. I have a copy of his discharge from the navy.

Jerome died May 18, 1918 in Remus, Michigan

Frank Eugene Denslow, (my grandfather) was born May 9, 1871. He married Mary Rose Hotchkin in 1896. They made their home in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Frank and Eugene had two children: Floyd Eugene, and Aletha Belle. Floyd (my father) died in 1932 of cancer. After his death my mother, my mother's mother, my sister and I went to live in my grandfather's house. Thanks to my Grandfather, I learned to read and write at an early age.

My grandfather was never seen without a pipe, and because he was always spilling hot ashes from his pipe, he was only allowed to sit in one chair in the living room if he was smoking, because he always burned out the seat of the chair. Also, we never owned a car that did not have the driver's seat burned out. I remember all the cars had gunny sacks stuffed in the holes in the car seat.

About 1946 Grandpa took me to Remus to see his home areas. I met Milford Denslow's family there and after Grandpa returned home, I spent a great week on Milford's farm, where as a "city boy" I had a wonderful time. It was the last time my grandfather got to return home to the Remus area.

Mary Rose died in September 9, 1946, shortly after celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. Frank died March 15, 1949. They are both buried in Crystal Springs Cemetery, Benton Harbor, Michigan.

Discharge certificate for Jerome Denslow. According to the stories, he served in the Navy during the Civil War. In 1912 he petitioned the war Department for a copy of his discharge, stating that while his wife was ill, he hired a young girl to help take care of his wife, and that after the girl was let go, it was discovered that a box with some jewelry and the original discharge paper was missing. This discharge is what was provided to him by the War Department.

     William Savage was born on 30 April 1800 at Buckland, Franklin County, MA, USA. He married Urania Simmons Sprague circa 1820. William Savage died on 18 April 1863 at MI, USA, at age 62.

     Urania Simmons Sprague was born in 1794 at Waldoboro, Lincoln County, ME, USA. She married William Savage circa 1820. Urania Simmons Sprague died on 4 July 1850 at NY, USA.

     Ruth Johnson was born on 18 November 1654 at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA. She was the daughter of John Johnson and Elizabeth Desborough.

     Abigail Johnson was born on 5 November 1659 at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA. She was the daughter of John Johnson and Elizabeth Desborough.

     Thomas Relf was born on 30 January 1615 at Warwick, Kent County, RI, USA. He married Elizabeth Desborough in 1641 at CT, USA. Thomas Relf died in 1682 at Richmond, Richmond City, VI, USA. He was buried at Kippax Plantation Cemetery, at Richmond, Richmond City, VI, USA.

     Elizabeth Relf was born on 3 June 1647 at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA. She was the daughter of Thomas Relf and Elizabeth Desborough. Elizabeth Relf died on 27 October 1713 at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, at age 66. She was buried at Village Green Cemetery, at Guilford, New Haven County, CT, USA.

He married Almira Olmstead on 1 December 1866 at Niagara County, NY, USA. Ransom Halstead died on 30 November 1883 at Newfane, Niagara County, NY, at age 74.

     Mary McClew was born on 1 January 1812 at Schenectady County, NY, USA. She married Ransom Halstead circa 1830 at NY, USA. Mary McClew died on 23 November 1864 at Newfane, Niagara County, NY, USA, at age 52.

     Elizabeth Halstead was born on 5 October 1834 at Niagara County, NY, USA. Age 16 at the 1850 census. She was the daughter of Ransom Halstead and Mary McClew. Elizabeth Halstead died on 4 July 1881 at Newfane, Niagara County, NY, USA, at age 46.

     David Benjamin Halstead was born in 1839 at NY, USA. Age 11 at the 1850 census. He was the son of Ransom Halstead and Mary McClew. David Benjamin Halstead died in 1867 at Newfane, Niagara County, NY, USA.

     Charles Clarence Halstead was born on 23 May 1845 at Niagara County, NY, USA. Age 5 at the 1850 census. He was the son of Ransom Halstead and Mary McClew. Charles Clarence Halstead died on 11 April 1923 at Little Rock, Pulaski County, AR, USA, at age 77.
