Roxcy's nickname is seen variously as "Roxy," "Roxey," and "Roxcy."

Roxcy was married in Peru, Clinton Co, NY on April 11, 1873 to James Prentiss Goodwin. James died in Bremer County, Iowa Feb. 26, 1873, after which Roxcy went to live with family in Sacramento, California.

Her funeral was at 11:00 AM on January 19, 1875 in the home of her niece, Mary E. Michener 1813 H Street, Sacramento, California. Mary Michener was the daughter of Roxy's sister Mrs. Richard (Elizabeth) FitzGerald.

In 1998 the following information came from Tom Henry (family researcher): Roxcy was buried in New Helvetia Cemetery at Alhambra and "J" streets in Sacrament, CA. It was Sacramento's very first cemetery. But in 1955-56 the city removed the bodies from that cemetery to build Sutter Junior High School on that spot. Those graves that were unmarked and unidentified were reinterred at East Lawn Cemetery at 43rd and Folsom Blvd. Those graves with markers but no claiming heirs were reinterred at City Cemetery, 10th and Broadway. Those having markers and claimed by heirs were reinterred in various cemeteries in the Sacrament area, including St. Joseph's; Masonic and the I.O.O.F., among others. So where is Roxcy buried? No one knows! It is an unmarked grave in one of several cemeteries in Sacrament.

From the Sacramento Union newspaper 19 January 1875: "Died -- Sacramento 17 January -- Roxy L. Goodwin, a native of Vermont, 69 years. Funeral from residence of Mrs. Michener, H Street, between 18th and 19th, at 11: A. M. today. Friends are invited to attend."
