Caroline Caldwell Hotchkin was born on 28 January 1844 at Elmira, Chemung County, NY, USA. She was the daughter of Samuel Hotchkin Esq. and Margaret Canfield Doremus. She married Charles Kilborn Williams Strong at Elmira, Chemung County, NY, on 4 October 1888.1 Caroline Caldwell Hotchkin died on 12 May 1892 at Elmira, Chemung County, NY, at age 48. She was buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, at Elmira, Chemung County, NY, USA.
Caroline's father Samuel Hotchkin Esquire was travelling in the East Indies for his Health, when Caroline was born, and Caroline's mother passed a few weeks later. Caroline lost her hearing due to fever, and did not learn to speak. She was adopted after her mother passed by Charles F. Park in Feb. 1844. She married Charles K.W. Strong on Oct. 4th 1888 who was also mute and working at the U.S. Treasury Dept -he passed away in 1891.
