     Cecil Eugene Welcher was born on 27 June 1946 at Baltimore, Baltimore County, MD, USA.¹ He married Peggy Louise Hotchkin, daughter of Elmer Frederick Hotchkin and Gladys Mae Bowen, circa 1965. Cecil Eugene Welcher married Genieve Rohrbaugh on 22 September 1978. Date from husbands tombstone.. Cecil Eugene Welcher died on 25 September 2010 at Fisherville, Augusta County, VA, USA, at age 64. Cecil Eugene (Duke) Welcher, 64, of Bridgewater, passed away Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Augusta Health in Fishersville.

He was born in Baltimore, Md., on June 27, 1946, and was a son of Lorraine (Welcher) Thornton of Craigsville.

Duke worked as an equipment operator and was an avid fisherman. He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He was united in marriage to Genieve (Rohrbaugh) Welcher of Bridgewater, who survives.

Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a daughter, born Pennie Leigh Welcher,in 1969; two stepsons, Tony Rohrbaugh and Danny Rohrbaugh; three sisters, Mary Gregory, Carolyn Knight, Debbie Thornton; and a brother, Rickie Allen Thornton. He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Cecil Eugene "Duke" Rohrbaugh.

A memorial service will be held at the Johnson Funeral Service Chapel in Bridgewater at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, 2010, with the Rev. James Kite officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater.

At his request, his body has been cremated.
