Lemuel Monroe was a Private, andserved in Capt Ammidon"s Company, Col. Sparkhawk's Regt of the MA Malitia, during the Revolutionary War. He died on 3 August 1854 at Howell, Livingston County, MI, USA, at age 95.

Lemuel Monroe, came into the township in May, 1849, and lived with his son, Francis Monroe. He was a soldier in the Revolutionary war, and died April 29th, 1854, at-the age of ninety-five years, one month and twenty-nine days.. He was buried at Lakeside Cemetery, at Howell, Livingston County, MI, USA.

     His pension records show that he had a son and daughter. The daughter name is given but not the son. She was Almira and her age was 85 in 1901. At the 1850 census of Howell, MI he is living with Francis Monroe, age 36, born in NY.
