The small marker in the Canasaraga Cemetery, Bennett section says: "Semor Jan 25, 1812", the birth day is incorrect. He was the son of Joseph Witherell and Mary Polly Fuller. He married Euphemia (Fanny) Scoon at NY, USA, circa 1830. Don Witherell says that they were married 16 Feb 1832 in Ossian, NY.. Seymour B. Witherell appeared on the census of 1850 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Seymour Witherell, 33, Euphamen, 28, John, 16, born Scotland; Susan, 14, born NY; Isaac, 11, born NY; son Walter, 9, born NY; Margaret, 7, born NY.. He died on 18 July 1896 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, at age 84. He was buried at Canaseraga Cemetery, at Canaseraga, Allegany County, NY, USA. Buried in the Bennett Section of the Cemetery..

     Joseph Witherell was born on 5 April 1775 at Hanover, Plymouth County, MA, USA. He was the son of Samuel Witherell and Ruth Silvester (Sylvester). He married Mary Polly Fuller at Shoreham, Addison County, VT, USA, on 14 April 1798. Joseph Witherell was a Private, andserved in US Army, during the War of 1812. He served from Vt., in the War of 1812. when he joined the U. S. Army at the age of 40, he was described as being 5'9-1/4" high, of dark complexion, black eyes, black hair and a farmer.Joseph Witherel, enl. from Middlebury, VT as a private, Apr 14, 1814 in the 2nd (or 3rd) Regt of light dragoons, commanded by Col. Ball. Disch, June 0, 1814 at Plattsburg, NY Applied for Bounty Land, Dec 10, 1850, but his case was not allowed. He appeared on the census of 1850 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA. The census lists the family as: Joseph Witherell, 76, born MA, farmer; Polly, 65, born VT; Charles, 21, born NY; James D., 30, born NY.. He died on 13 June 1863 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, at age 88. He was buried at Wood Cemetery (Bancroft Sheep Farm), at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA.

     Zaida (Witherell) Price, daughter of Joseph and Mary (Fuller) Witherell filed the Petition for Administration of Joseph's estate on April 22, 1865 in Livingston Co., N.Y., Surrogate Court. The estate was valued not to exceed the sum of two hundred dollars. Also named in the Petition as being children of Joseph Witherell are: Seymour Witherell, Allen Witherell, James Dennis Witherell of Ossian, Polly Babb of Livonia, and Eliza Ann Witherell of Rochester, N.Y.
