Herbert Edsall Krauss died on 17 January 2007 at Boonton, Morris County, NJ, USA, at age 82. BOONTON TWP. -- Herbert Edsall Krauss died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at Atlantic Hospice in Morristown.
He was born in Newark, raised in Chatham, and moved to Boonton Township, where he lived since 1962.
He graduated from Admiral Farragut Academy, attended Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy and graduated from Fort Trumball Officers Training School as a merchant engineer. He served his country for nearly 10 years as an officer in the Merchant Marines.
During World War II, he served in the Pacific, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Atlantic war zones.
He was a salesman for Essex Engraving in Newark and Gotham Graphics in Lyndhurst.
In 1966, he formed Edsal Enterprises, which concentrated on selling advertising printing and allied services to large companies. He retired in 2002.
A loving, caring and gentle husband, father and grandfather and dear friend, Mr. Krauss is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Edith (Speling); a son, Kurt; a daughter-in-law, Julie; and a grandson, Cole.
Mr. Krauss believed in service to his community and was an avid volunteer.
He served as co-chairman of numerous fundraising events for his local hospital, and was a member of the Juvenile Conference Committee of Boonton Township, the Delbarton School Fathers and Friends Committee and the Dickinson College Parents Advisory Council. He also served on the board of directors of the Peter's Valley Craft Education Center for nearly a decade.
He also was a member of the F &AM Madison Lodge No. 93.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Feb. 17, 2007, at St. Mary's Abbey/Delbarton School in Morristown to celebrate Mr. Krauss' life.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to St. Mary's Abbey or to the Delbarton Fund, 230 Mendham Road, Morristown, N.J. 07960. (28, 11).1

At that time, she quite full time teaching and served as a substitute teacher in the Liberty Public Schools. She was an officer in the Order of Eastern Star, President of the Liberty Garden Club, the first president of the Liberty Parent-Teachers Association, and a founder and committee person of the Liberty Youth Activities Council.6,7,8
