Christopher Miller was born in 1794 at Groton, New London County, CT, USA. He married Aurelia Shields Hotchkiss at Hartford, Hartford County, CT, USA, on 2 October 1822. Married by Rev Nathaniel S. Wheaton of the Hartford Christ Church..1,2 Christopher Miller died on 1 November 1839 at Brenham, Washington County, TX, USA. Died of the Yellow fever epidemic of 1839 in the coastal areas of Texas..3
In a 19 May 1856 deposition made by Jermiah Hotchkiss, brother of Aurelia, he says that he and Christopher went to Texas in 1836 when Christopher considered settling there. Christopher returned to New York the following year and then in the same year Christopher, his wife Aurelia and their four children returned to Texas. They settled in Houston and Christopher operated a steam-saw mill on White Oak Bayou, opposite the City of Houston, and he carried on his business there until his death in about the month of September 1839.
