The census lists the family as: Nathan Smith, born sep 1828, age 71, born NY, parents born NY, farmer; sister Mary L., born aug 1837, age 62, born NY, parents born NY, housekeeper; sister Mary A. Bailey, born apr 1819, age 81, widow, no children and none living, no occupation, born NY, parents born NY. (Mary A. is corectly Elmira). He died in April 1909 at Wyoming County, NY, at age 80. He was buried at Grace Cemetery, at Castile, Wyoming County, NY, USA.

Charles Aaron Smith

Charles Aaron Smith was born on 26 June 1833 at Genesee Falls, Wyoming County, NY, USA. He was the son of Issac Adams (Aaron) Smith Jr. and Lydia Wright. Charles Aaron Smith died on 17 August 1915 at Hermitage, Wyoming County, NY, USA, at age 82. He was buried at Grace Cemetery, at Castile, Wyoming County, NY, USA.
Son of Isaac & Lydia Wright Smith, he was born in Genesee Falls, Wyoming County, NY. Mr. Smith attended Madison, now Colgate University, to prepare for the ministry and he was ordained into the Baptist ministry. He had charges in Central & Western New York, notably Spencer & Hermitage, & Iowa. Mr. Smith enlisted in the Ninth NY Cavalry. So poor were the furnishings (no tents, etc) that he contracted lung trouble which never wholly left him. After a year's service he was honorably discharged. He then secured 80 acres of land in Iowa Falls, Iowa and was a successful farmer. His first marriage was to Miss Maria Eliza Crosby, April 9, 1865. Three children were born: Charles S., now in St. Louis; Ernest & Frank, who died in their infancy. Mrs. Maria Smith died in 1872. He was then married to Mrs. Marietta Reed Andrews, on August 10, 1873. Three children were born from this union, Nathan, a teacher in the Baptist Seminary at Kansas City, Kansas, Margaret E. & Frank C. of Iowa Falls, Iowa. Two step-sons, George I & John W. Andrews of Iowa Falls, Iowa. Mrs. Marietta Smith died in 1908. He was then married to Mrs. Minerva Reed Dolph, July 3, 1910, who survives. 82y

Isaac Smith

Isaac Smith was born on 31 March 1826 at Canada. He was the son of Oran (Orrin) Smith and Rebecca Thomas. Isaac Smith lived in 1860 at Ossian, Livingston County, NY, USA. He died on 15 May 1862 at Williamsburg, Williamsburg County, VA, USA, at age 36. Date from Mary's application for Isaac's pension 1866. From Mary's application for benefits for 2 sons 1873, states Isaac died around time of Battle of Williamsburg by being lost overboard wile on vessel bound for Fort Monroe. He was buried at Died at Sea.. Isaac Smith, fought in the Civil War with Company I, 74th Reg., NY from Ossian. He was in the Peninsula Campaign in Virginia in the spring of 1862 (took place between the James and York Rivers. became ill apparently with typhoid fever, was put on a hospital boaand disappeared before reaching the hospital at Fort Monroe..
